How it all began...

After numerous trees had fallen on our family’s property in 1992 due to Hurricane Andrew, Hardwood Firewood (HWFW) was created. We needed to move the trees but did not really know what to do with them but had an idea to sell it to homeowners for firewood.

This led to HWFW becoming the largest supplier to residential customers in the Greater New Orleans area from 1997-2004. In 1995, a variety of wood products other than oak became available. HWFW added cherry, hickory, pecan, and mesquite to their inventory triggering unprecedented growth.

In 1997, we invested in a huge storage facility where the firewood is stored to maintain its quality longer. In 2005, Hurricane Katrina wreaked havoc to our firewood business to the brink of closing. But between 2005 – 2008, we commercialized and acquired restaurants accounts and along with faithful long-term residential customers we made a strong comeback.

Today, HWFW offers pizza oven wood, smoking wood, and open flame cooking wood.
